Hearst's Enthusiast Group is looking for an Editor for the Content Hype team to ideate, create, edit, package, and distribute material that boosts the performance, reach, and awareness of content previously produced by the staff of the Enthusiast Group, which includes Runner's World, Bicycling, Popular Mechanics, Best Products, and Biography.com. The ideal candidate has experience in writing and editing for niche, member-focused audiences; fluency in data-driven projects; and a background in or affinity for both editorial work and content marketing.
The Content Hype team is a newly formed team that uses highly creative repackaging, reformatting, remessaging, and redistribution, as well as occasional topic-adjacent original creations in order to highlight and promote - hype up - content that is key to our brands' success. Examples include projects such ''How to Master the Marathon'' from Runner's World, ''How to Master the Century,'' from Bicycling, Train with Runner's World+, and individual service, news, review, and feature stories that show strong potential for high performance in metrics such as membership conversion and retention, and affiliate commerce.
The ideal candidate is a deeply engaged, efficient but accurate editor and creative thinker and collaborator who can adeptly move from project to project. You can craft headlines and other display copy, captions, text, and the packaging of all those elements in a way that excites and compels people to engage with our brands in deeply satisfying, authentic ways that drive specific actions such a signing up to be a member, signing up to participate in one our member programs, or buying a product we recommend. Your enemies are passive consumption, and skim-and-scroll behavior. You are highly collaborative, relish iterative processes that help us continually sharpen our focus on high-performing approaches and reject the underperforming ones (even when they're your favorites). You are excellent at translating signals from data into engaging content.
Our brands are the authorities in a number of key categories (training, health/wellness, racing, injury prevention, DIY, space exploration, etc.), so a genuine interest in our coverage areas is a must. This role reports directly to the Director of Content Hype. It sits in the Enthusiast Group office in Easton, PA, and works closely with a variety of departments, including Editorial, Design, Photo, and Video.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Under direction of the Deputy Editor, originate and edit content that meets performance metrics.
• Assign/file/top-edit stories, scripts and video captions.
• Create cross-platform experiences for readers in various channels, from digital to print to social.
• Depending on experience, manage and/or mentor team members editors.
Job Qualifications:
• At least 4-6 years experience working for a digital media brand, ideally in the health/wellness/fitness space or service-oriented brand
• Experience with SEO-based content and finding service angles from news or timely events
• A keen sense of what's new and trending in the health/fitness space and the resourcefulness to pitch existing stories to the Hype team for treatment. Bonus: passion for running and/or cycling culture.
• Demonstrated experience publishing digital content within a CMS and working with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Trends
• Ability to thrive under multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
• Openness to collaboration between teams, a positive, go-getter attitude, and ability to embrace teamwork
• Bachelor's degree
The base salary for this role is between $62,310-$69,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
