Job Description
We are looking for a Director, Subscription Forecasting & Planning on the Consumer team who is data-driven, cross-functional, and detail-oriented, to help us understand and forecast the subscription business across the entire Hearst Magazines portfolio. This role will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning related to subscribers and subscriber KPIs, subscription revenue, and subscription COGS.
The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail, a strong analytical skillset, experience working with many partners of an organization, and a proven ability to communicate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Resonsibilities:
• Understand the ins and outs of our subscription business from acquisition to retention and owning an overall subscription model across all Hearst Magazine Brands
• Develop robust lifetime value (LTV) model to help inform acquisition strategy and constraints
• Evolve pricing strategy including testing new prices and offers
• Enhance monthly & quarterly internal and external reporting, including driving informative analyses to explain trends and identify risks & opportunities across the business
• Model potential partnerships to drive both consumer value and incremental subscription opportunities
• Manage one direct report and act as a culture champion for the Consumer team as well as broader organization
Qualifications:
• 8+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, or investment banking; media or e-commerce experience a plus
• Proven experience in SaaS-based technology companies and understanding of subscription business metrics such as lifetime value, customer acquisition costs, subscription cohorts, and retention curves is strongly preferred
• Familiar with media metrics throughout the funnel from traffic to subscription conversion rates
• Strategic thinker with strong relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent quantitative skills, particularly using Microsoft Excel
• Proficient in Google Analytics, Looker, or other business intelligence/reporting tools
• Experience managing and leading a team
• Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
The base salary for this role is between $116,000-$140,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
