Job Description
As an Ad Tech QA Specialist at Hearst Magazines, you will work closely with a team of Engineers and Product Managers to optimize and validate our ad technology infrastructure. You will focus on enhancing ad delivery systems to maximize revenue while upholding a superior user experience across the Hearst Magazines portfolio of websites. By helping maintain the highest quality standards, you directly contribute to the sustained success of Hearst Magazines in the digital advertising space. This position can work from our office located in NYC or Easton, PA.

Resonsibilities:

What You'll Do
• Execute and manage the testing of ad tech products, including programmatic advertising platforms, ad servers, data management platforms, consent management platforms, analytics, and custom ad products.
• Ensure that the ad tech solutions meet the company's quality standards as well as client expectations. This includes validating ad display, tracking, targeting, and the overall user experience.
• Identify, document, and report defects, bugs, and issues found during testing.
• Collaborate with developers and technical teams to help troubleshoot and resolve identified problems.
• Work with product development teams to understand new features and assist in the creation of test plans and strategies.
Provide feedback to aid in the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and systems to streamline the QA process.
• Ensure that our consent management configuration complies with relevant laws and privacy regulations.
• Maintain and update QA documentation and reports.
• Recommend improvements in the development process and QA practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies related to ad tech to improve testing processes and techniques.

Qualifications:

Who You Are
• Familiarity with the online advertising ecosystem, including ad servers, programmatic advertising, ad exchanges, and ad verification tools.
• Understanding of various ad formats - such as display, video, and native advertising.
• Ability to perform both manual and automated testing.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide actionable insights.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to document QA processes, write test cases, and communicate findings.
• Experience with ad serving technologies and platforms, such as Google Ad Manager.
• Direct experience with ad operations, including trafficking, optimization, and reporting a big plus.
• Awareness of advertising standards and compliance requirements, including privacy regulations like GDPR and current and upcoming US Privacy laws.
• Knowledge of web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and debugging tools like browser developer tools.
• Comfortable working with data and interpreting reports from analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies, such as JIRA.
• Previous experience with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright or Selenium is a big plus.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, or equivalent real-life experience.
