Job Summary/Description:
The WIS First Alert Desk is a dynamic part of WIS Sunrise every weekday morning. The ideal anchor/reporter who covers this responsibility will bring excellent news judgment with a sense of urgency that adds an energetic, sparkling personality to complete our morning team. Your creative vision for this daypart will help WIS continue delivering the market's top-rated morning news.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Use multiple sources throughout the morning to identify urgent, timely content for the morning shows, providing our viewers with the ''First Alert'' to what's happening that could affect their day.
• Shoot, write, edit, and publish video journalism for multiple platforms.
• Pitch and produce enterprise journalism, showcasing an awareness of trending and timely topics.
• Manage deadlines, while remaining responsive to the demands of the newsroom
• Present information in a fair, unbiased manner
• Set an example as a team player in a winning culture, assisting with show producing, as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• 3+ years' experience as a professional broadcast journalist
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
• Excellent live reporting skills with the ability to ad-lib during breaking news
• Refined ability to write for both broadcast & digital presentation
• Basic experience with newsroom computer systems, preferably ENPS
• Understanding of and adherence to AP Style for digital platforms and broadcasting writing for TV
• Ability to operate a field camera, editing, and lighting equipment
• Ability to lift/carry equipment ranging from 35-50 lbs
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Represent WIS professionally/responsibly in the community and newsroom, online and in person
• Must have the desire to win, reflect critically on your work, and apply feedback
