Job Description
The Lead Creature TD will lead a team responsible for setting up skin, muscle, cloth and hair simulations for our hero and secondary characters and creatures. Other responsibilities include, maintaining and supporting those rigs/setups through production as well as running shots in production.
Responsibilities
• Lead, train and mentor a team of Creature TDs
• Provide feedback and troubleshooting on shots
• Build, maintain and test simulation rigs and setups
• Develop tools to assist in building simulation rigs and running shot simulations
• Run simulations, perform technical animation and shot sculpting for shots in production
• Creatively troubleshoot and solve problems independently
• Receive and address technical and creative feedback from supervisors and lead
• Work efficiently as part of a team, or independently, to complete assigned shots
• Meet schedules and deadlines whilst maintaining the highest standards.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree / Diploma aligning to the position
• At least 2 years previous experience working in a film VFX pipeline
• 5 years full time work experience will substitute formal qualifications if none are available
• Currently performing as a Senior or Lead level Creature TD
• High level of proficiency with industry-standard software such as Maya and/or Houdini
• Good knowledge of nCloth, nHair, and/or Vellum
• Excellent sense for physically based motion and understanding of animation principles
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex topics relevant to CFX and connected departments
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability and willingness to multi-task
• Working knowledge of Python (and/or Mel)
• 5 years of experience in film/animation/VFX
In addition, experience of any of the following is highly desirable:
• Experience with Ziva Dynamics
• Experience with Houdini
• Experience with Marvelous Designer
• Previous rigging experience
• Previous experience in Linux
