MORNING REPORTER

KXRM-TV, FOX21

Colorado Springs, CO

FOX21 seeks a Reporter to join our 4 hour morning newscast. If you're a great story-teller and have stellar live skills this is the job for you. The ideal candidate will need to be creative with their live shots and possess plenty of personality. A college degree in broadcasting or related major is preferred with at least 2-3 years' experience. Familiarity with I-News, and the Adobe Premiere editing system puts you way ahead of the game.
• Reports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details of events
• Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories
• Researches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate information
• Pitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local community
• Discusses issues with producers and/or news managers to establish priorities or positions
• Produces and presents reports for all platforms
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum two years' experience in news reporting (More or less depending on market size)
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation
• Compensation range from $16.00/ hr + commensurate with experience and skill level.
