About the Role & Team
ESPN, the world's leading multiplatform sports entertainment brand, features eight US television networks, the leading sports app, direct-to-consumer ESPN+, leading social and digital platforms, ESPN.com, ESPN Audio, endeavors on every continent around the world, and more. The Global Security & Safety department ensures the safety, security and well-being of all ESPN employees, guests and assets. In addition, we provide security and safety services for all ESPN owned and leased facilities and ESPN remote events worldwide. These are part- time positions with a variety of shift start/end times.
What You Will Do
• Implement company security and parking policies consistently and fairly.
• Greet, screen, and advise all visitors following the established procedures.
• Identify and report safety and security hazards and secure property as advised.
• Completes and issues hot work permits and conducts inspections per established hot work permit processes to preserve safety at ESPN facilities.
• Conducts fire watch assignments in designated hot work areas.
• Provide appropriate general information to visitors and employees and perform general security checks.
• Perform access control duties at high traffic exterior posts in accordance with established procedures.
• Respond to medical, fire, security, and other safety related emergencies and incidents as trained and write comprehensive reports following established procedures.
• Might be asked to provide security presence at special events (on or off-campus) and n some instances establish barricades, operate gates, and generally advise vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
• You may be tasked to complete special assignments as required.
• Build work orders documenting requestors name, location, type of service needed and dispatch maintenance personnel to the accurate location of requested work orders.
• Identify craft on all routine requests
• Assist in the distribution and tracking of related departmental keys. Monitor hand held radio channels for HVAC, Electrical, Maintenance, Construction and Safety to facilitate communication between groups.
• Receive and process all requests for facilities services through phone calls, email and radio. Supervise main company external phone line and direct incoming telephone calls as appropriate.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Have a valid Drivers License in the state of Connecticut and possess a DMV Class F Public Passenger Endorsement on Driver's License or submit application for the Class F endorsement within 30 days of employment.
• Currently possess and maintain a valid CT Guard certification.
• Pass a pre-employment background check, DMV check, and urinalysis drug screen.
• Flexibility to work a varying schedule (hours and days off) and work overtime as approved.
• Basic familiarity with computers, including MS Outlook email and Word.
• Maintain a professional presence in image and interactions at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
• One year or more of security or law enforcement experience; or college degree in related field required and work experience in Facilities Management or similar field handling service requests.
• Excellent customer service skills with outstanding writing ability and command of basic English grammar.
• Leadership and decision making skills. Ability to take command and respectfully control difficult situations.
• Highly adaptable with the ability to perform tasks independently within established guidelines.
• Ability to operate company transportation, including fleet and gem cart vehicles.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent experience
