Job Description
UX DESIGN
What We Do
We design customer and user-focused experiences that are fresh and innovative, while problem solving by anticipating user behavior and hurdles. We approach the most complex of problems and address them with simple, intuitive, and useful solutions.
What You'll Do
The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games are collaborating on an all-new games and entertainment universe.
In addition to being a world-class games experience, this new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, and engage with content, characters, and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and more.
Players, gamers, and fans of all kinds will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love. Come join us in creating the future of interactive entertainment.
Epic is looking for a talented UX designer to work on several initiatives as part of our collaboration with Disney. As a UX designer, you will work with the development teams across the different initiatives and partner with the UI/UX Director to establish consistent flows and patterns for this exciting new project. You will generate wireframes, documentation, and prototypes to create well-thought-out features and systems. You will then work with a multidisciplinary team to ship these features to create a memorable experience for our players.
In this role, you will
• Work with Game Designers to translate goals and constraints into compelling user-facing experiences
• Collaborate with UI artists to create an innovative, first-class experience
• Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and documentation that clearly convey ideas
• Present and pitch designs to Product Managers, Developers, and Stakeholders
• Work alongside Programmers, UI Technical Designers, and UX Researchers to develop features and systems
• Produce UX design work such as competitive analysis, information architecture, content strategy, user stories, journey mapping, and accessibility standards
• Work collaboratively across multiple teams to create consistency and build design systems that enhance our ability to design more efficiently and consistently
What we're looking for
• You have 5+ years of experience working collaboratively to design features and complex UX systems through to completion across multiple platforms (mobile, web, pc, consoles)
• You have 5+ years of experience working in Agile environments and on multi-disciplinary teams and have at least 2+ years of experience shipping updates and new features to a user base on a regular cadence
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and at least 3-4 years of experience presenting to other team members and stakeholders
• You are skilled with Figma, the Adobe Suite, and prototyping software
• You are known for your ability to simplify complex spaces into clear wireframes and prototypes that are easy to understand and articulate
• You have a solid online portfolio that demonstrates user-centered design solutions with strong visual direction and interaction design
• You have a passion for making and playing games
• You're a proactive individual who naturally leans into owning outcomes from start to finish
• You're highly proactive and able to work autonomously, but you enjoy collaborating as part of a high-performing team
• You're able to deal with ambiguity well and adapt to changes of plan quickly, and you want to work with a team that values collaboration over individual success
• Bonus Points:
• You have worked on 2+ AAA game titles.
• You have worked on a project that shipped on several different platforms (PC/Console/Mobile)
• You are passionate about Disney
• You've built complex, successful design systems
• A degree in related fields (Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Interaction Design, etc)
This role is open to multiple locations across North America and Europe (including CA & WA).
