What You'll Do

We are looking for a UI Artist to join our Fortnite Battle Royale Engagement team. In this job, you will bring ideas to life by creating high-fidelity mockups and prototypes. You will be responsible for implementation within the Unreal Editor using UMG, animations, material effects, etc. You will then work with game designers, product managers, UX designers, tech UI designers, and programmers to ship these features to millions of users.

In this role, you will
• Work collaboratively with UX Design, Tech UI Design, and Programming to create AAA-quality UI experiences and collaborate with the greater UXUI Department to ensure consistency and quality is maintained across Fortnite as a product.
• Actively participate in the creation and implementation of design systems, game menus, HUD elements, Iconography, UI materials and shaders, UI animation, and motion design
• Contribute to shipping features on time and at high quality
• Execute to a high craft quality bar, work autonomously, and tackle medium to complex features; contribute to the success of the team by designing and implementing complex UI features
• Design and Implement medium to complex flows, screens, and components at a high-quality bar with minimal oversight
• Work in Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Figma to create concept UI art
• Create new material effects, implement basic logic in blueprints, and/or create 2D effects

What we're looking for
• You have 3-5 years of experience working collaboratively to see complex UI features through to completion across multiple platforms (mobile, pc, consoles)
• You have 3-5 years of experience working in Agile environments and on multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent visual design skills and a strong portfolio of work showcasing your skills and your process
• You are skilled with Figma, Adobe Suite, or other comparable software
• Experience with UI Art implementation, in Unreal Engine (UMG) or equivalent game engine
• Experience with building UI materials & shaders for game engines, or equivalent 3d packages and FX tools; motion design & UI animation, preferably for games or interaction design
• You are a proactive individual who naturally leans into owning outcomes and are able to deal with ambiguity well and adapt to changes of plan quickly
• You have a passion for making and playing games and have a strong sense of player empathy
• A strong portfolio of work showcasing your skills and your process

Bonus Points:
• You have worked on or shipped AAA game title

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

Washington Base Pay Range

$128,453 — $162,775 USD
