Job Description
ENGINEERING - EPIC GAMES SERVICES

What We Do

Driving the plug-in power behind Unreal Engine 5. We bridge connections for licensees and our own internal game teams to online services. This allows games like Fortnite to utilize a combination of platform online services as well as Epic's own online services to build cross-platform online features. Login, parties, voice chat, matchmaking, purchasing, cloud storage, and analytics are just a few examples of online features that our Online Game Services team helps games utilize.

What You'll Do

The Online Applications Group comprises most of Epic's frontend web and mobile application teams. We serve millions of players, creators, and developers every day and build tools used by internal teams across the company. The Developer Portal is the platform where game and application developers can publish their products to the Epic Games Store, download and configure the Epic Online Services SDK, and manage their team's access to Epic's enterprise tools. We're looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join the team that works on the Developer Portal project and the backend services that support it. The role is full-stack with a focus on the frontend.

In this role, you will
• Be one of the technical owners of the Developer Portal UI and backend services, drive and participate in development and maintenance initiatives, establish coding practices
• Scope out and validate your work together with designers, user-facing teams, and internal stakeholders
• Collaborate with other Epic teams on shared projects, for example by writing and reviewing technical documents, and supporting contributors to the Developer Portal codebases
• Be a mentor for teammates and peers
• Direct a team of contractors in development activities

What we're looking for
• Deep knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, HTML, and CSS
• Experience architecting, coding, and maintaining web applications with complex user interfaces and multiple contributing development teams
• A keen eye for user experience, UI design patterns, and accessibility
• Familiarity with cloud providers, infrastructure-as-code, and authentication/authorization protocols
• A candid and respectful communication style that fosters collaboration and professional growth
• Ability to solicit feedback, evaluate tradeoffs, and own the outcome of problems that have no perfect or obvious solution
• A drive for technical excellence, as a means to better user and developer experience

Note to Recruitment Agencies: Epic does not accept any unsolicited resumes or approaches from any unauthorized third party (including recruitment or placement agencies) (i.e., a third party with whom we do not have a negotiated and validly executed agreement). We will not pay any fees to any unauthorized third party. Further details on these matters can be found here.
