Job Description
PROGRAMMING - UNREAL ENGINE

What We Do

Unreal-powered projects have been on the bleeding edge of real-time entertainment for over 20 years. Our team of programming experts are always innovating to improve the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

We're looking for an experienced Technical Artist who will contribute to innovative uses of the Unreal Engine on a daily basis. Your primary goal would be to empower licensees to solve technical/artistic issues in their projects and push the boundaries of the Unreal Engine. Your primary tasks will involve directly interacting with licensees, contributing to the development of the engine, and creating content that showcases the capabilities of Unreal in ways that inspire and educate.

In this role, you will
• Diagnose issues and guide best practices in linear and runtime animation for Unreal Engine licensees in person, via video, or over email
• Work with the engine team, customers, and technical partners in the ongoing improvement of Unreal Engine's animation tools and features
• Drive the creation and development of knowledge sharing resources such as samples, live presentations, whitepapers, tutorials, and knowledge base articles
• Build a variety of animation asset types and help others to do so
• Understand typical performance bottlenecks in animation and assist licensees in resolving them
• Provide mentorship and coaching to team members

What we're looking for
• User-focused, passionate, self-sufficient, solutions-focused, and innovative. These traits equal success at Epic and influence everything we do
• Experience working with a wide range of Unreal Engine animation assets such as animation blueprints, control rigs, IK retargeting, level sequences, ML deformer, deformer graph, etc.
• Experience building DCC and pipeline tools
• Strong written/verbal communication skills including the ability to train others, or give technical presentations to audiences with varying technical backgrounds
• Self-motivated individual who will take ownership of the technical relationship with developers and work proactively to reduce friction and improve processes
• Professional experience with Unreal Engine 5, particularly the animation pipeline
• Knowledge of Maya, MotionBuilder, Blender and/or other DCC applications
• Experience rigging characters either in Unreal Engine and DCC tools
• Experience with Motion Matching
• Prior developer relations experience is a bonus

We will not pay any fees to any unauthorized third party. Further details on these matters can be found here.
