What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Backend Security Engineer focused on Mobile to develop and improve our services and products that protect our services, products, and games. Your efforts will be critical to the success of Epic and the many creators who depend on it. The ideal candidate would have prior experience developing backend security services for mobile product ecosystems. In this role, you will
• Directly contribute code and be a code owner for multiple services and code-bases
• Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, and other developers to improve existing and craft new security processes specifically around mobile
• Build and improve internal tooling at scale to protect the Epic mobile ecosystem
• Follow best practices and proactively seek out opportunities to improve the security of Epic's products and services
• Proactively identify problems and solutions to ensure Epic's mobile ecosystem is secure
• Handle various real-time issues that may arise on online services and platforms
• Leverage standards to unlock the network effect and follow industry best practice for mobile application security

What we're looking for
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with experience in mobile games and applications security
• Expert knowledge in one or more of the following programming languages in a security environment: C++, Java, Swift, or Go
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and design patterns
• Deep, technical understanding of application security, especially on mobile devices
• Knowledge and experience developing methods to scan for vulnerabilities
• Strong knowledge of AWS/Cloud infrastructure including code-as-infrastructure (e.g. Terraform)
• Experience building & managing distributed systems, designing APIs and deploying services (e.g. Kubernetes)
• Experience working in Go for backend services (also Java/Javascript/Typescript)
• Experience working with big data analytics to solve, prevent, or monitor for problems
• Knowledge and/or experience mitigating supply chain attacks

This role is open to multiple locations (including CA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range

$202,965 - $297,682 USD
