What We Do

Unreal projects have been leading the pack of real-time entertainment with our constantly growing team of engineering experts. We're always improving on the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

We are growing a team that is forging its first adventures in LEGO Fortnite, blending the engaging and welcoming Fortnite universe with the creativity and playfulness of LEGO. We're looking for a Senior Physics Gameplay Programmer for the Core Tech team within LEGO Fortnite. We are looking for an Engineer with a strong passion for physics and math to help implement new physics systems and maintain existing systems in Unreal Engine 5 and beyond. You will work closely with gameplay, tech art, and core physics engineering to build one of the marquee physics experiences in the Fortnite ecosystem.

In this role, you will
• Implement and maintain new physics systems within the Unreal Engine to enable an open-world multiplayer physics sandbox
• Build new physics toys, and vehicles, and refine physics interactions for LEGO Fortnite
• Partner with the Unreal Engine Physics team to ensure a reliable and developer-friendly physics engine for all Unreal developers
• Collaborate with design and tech art teams to invent and fine-tune new modes of play
• Investigate, debug, and harden physics systems to ensure a reliable and stable experience for players
• Be forward-thinking, keeping up to date on current techniques, research, and hardware, etc

What we're looking for
• Excellent C++ experience and familiarity with systems like Blueprint
• Experience with Unreal Engine - ideally with projects developed in UE4 or UE5
• Experience working with other game physics engines such as Havok, PhysX, Bullet, etc
• Passion for physics and experience and making physics work in the game world
• Experience implementing simulation or physics systems in a game engine, including core algorithms, performance optimization, behavior, etc
• Well-versed in software engineering principles
• Experience in a cross-disciplinary development environment with excellent communication skills. You should be able to communicate and explain trade-offs with non-engineers!
• Fearless attitude to making deep, profound, and reliable changes to an existing engine
• Experience developing in a large codebase at a fast pace, making trade-offs between usability, performance, and robustness

This role is open to multiple locations across North America and Europe (including CA, NYC & WA).
