We raise the quality level of audio in all Epic game titles and technologies, as well as engage with a world-class team to create amazing gaming experiences.
What You'll Do
As a music designer, you'll apply your refined music aesthetic and ear to the music production process and development of music assets along with our audio team for one of the most popular games in the world. We value ideas and the freedom to innovate with amazing audio content and technologies.
In this role, you will
• Engage with a world-class team to ideate, organize, and produce amazing music and gaming experiences
• Work with Epic's music team to produce music and refine the production pipeline
• Support internal and external music partners and talent to produce music from concept to final master and finally into the game engine
• Work with Epic's internal art and design teams to support the music pipeline during development
What we're looking for
• A strong foundation of the music production and creation process of modern popular music across genres: Hip hop, EDM, dance, pop, rock, metal, irreverent, classical, etc
• A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate a solid foundational knowledge of the music creative and production process. Can demonstrate previous music production experience and songs/compositions, music editorial, and song development
• A solid foundation of recording programming and DAW experience, digital sample selection, online sample libraries, software synthesizers, instrument plugins, and common music production plugins and tools
• Some experience with Unreal or Unity editors preferred, including scripting, level editor, animation, and linear editors
• Experience with audio toolsets/middleware and implementation of audio assets into game builds
• Editing, mixing, and mastering music for use in linear or interactive contexts
• Able to collaborate with diverse teams and disciplines to create amazing music
• Music degree or pursuing a degree in Music Composition, Music Technology, or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Produced and released music and able to provide examples
Nice to have skills
• Knowledge about implementing audio in-game audio middleware or native systems
• Experience with scripting languages and methods
• Orchestral experience is nice to have, but need to demonstrate some high level of familiarity
• A love for a wide variety of music
• Knowledge of procedural music and interactive music systems
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).
Pay Transparency Information
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
California Base Pay Range
$165,686 — $233,007 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$148,060 — $205,154 USD
