ART
What We Do
Push your artistic talent to the limit on a team of world-class environment, character, and concept artists who strive to innovate and inspire.
What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Senior Environment Concept Artist to join our team working on Fortnite. In this role, you will work directly with the Environment Art Director, Lead Environment artists, and the rest of the Environment Art Team to help create and iterate on exciting, and diverse environments that set the tone of the Fortnite island. Our ideal candidate has a proven track record of creating stunning and beautiful environments through visually appealing and well-crafted concept art.
In this role you will create artwork that inspires game designers, informs level designers, and provides actionable visuals for our Environment Art team. You should have a combination of strong creative/visual aesthetics, excellent architectural design skills, and experience creating grounded, yet aspirational worlds. We are looking for a candidate who can quickly iterate on and create very high-quality key art, with a proven understanding of what an Environment Artist needs to be successful.
In this role, you will
• Work with Art Leads and Art Directors to help drive the Fortnite island toward new creative realms
• Be highly creative, expanding on the pillars of seasonal direction, and create visually stunning spaces
• Work closely with the Environment Concept team, and help guide and mentor younger artists
• Embrace the evolution of Fortnite's Environment Art, and push creative boundaries
• Create and iterate unique, stunning landscapes and architectural designs
• Partner with the Environment Art modeling teams to ensure the concept designs work within metric, providing breakouts, and paintovers of architecture and props
What we're looking for
• Experienced Senior Environment Concept artist, with experience contributing to AAA titles
• Strong understanding of art fundamentals, multiple art styles, anatomy, color theory, and lighting
• Experience in world-building with wide variety and broad appeal
• Understanding of what makes strong key art, and how to break key art down to digestible work for 3D modelers needing to retain metric and gameplay goals
• Understanding of Unreal Engine, with the ability to problem solve alongside an Environment Artist
• Utilization of 3D packages to help quickly iterate on work
• A passion for game development and the ability to both inspire and execute
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).
