What We Do

The Quality Assurance team owns the testing process, risk management, and quality evaluation of all products and functions across Epic. Our team works closely with developers and production to ensure the best possible user experience for our community and customers.

What You'll Do

Epic Games is in the business of creating fun games we want to play and building the art and tools we need to bring those games to life. We provide our engine technology to developers worldwide and consistently strive to stay on the cutting edge of our industry. We iterate to improve everything every day: our games, our technology, our processes, and even our workspaces and people. This unrelenting focus on innovation and quality defines us. Our SDETs are, first and foremost, software engineers; they act as force multipliers for quality efforts across the business by providing tools, frameworks, coaching, and education. As we continue to grow a world-class technical organization within Quality Assurance, we are looking for an SDET Manager with proven leadership and test engineering vision for our Fortnite Ecosystem team.

In this role, you will
• Develop automation frameworks from the ground up using C#/C++, making decisions on what and where to prioritize, while developing team structures necessary to expand your efforts
• Collaborate with QA and Development teams to craft automation processes that are robust, reliable, and easy to use
• Build relationships and partnerships with internal customers and stakeholders across the company
• Run teams with impact across multiple projects with the Fortnite Ecosystem space while influencing the vision for the broader SDET organization at Epic
• Mentor, coach, and develop a team of SDETs at various career stages while increasing visibility into automated efforts and test augmentation
• Maintain excellent technical practices (e.g. refactoring, minimizing technical debt, and unit testing) with a focus on continuous improvement
• Develop tools to assist in tester augmentation, backward compatibility, and performance stability

What we're looking for
• Excellent leadership skills, including mentorship, planning technical roadmaps, making trade-offs, and prioritization
• Good knowledge of how game engines work; Experience with either UE4/Unity or a custom internal game engine
• Ability to architect solutions for development and QA when solutions do not exist within the space required
• Experience developing systems and tools that enhance the experience or capabilities of internal partner teams
• Experience with automation frameworks and continuous integration systems using C#/C++
• Ability to quickly understand complex tech stacks and find solutions that complement/extend rather than bypass existing investments
• Experience with developing unit testing and integration testing strategies, Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development
• Experience with Polyglot development and working between full-stack systems (ex: Game Engine, Online Service team, a full-stack web application (service and frontend), etc)
• Games industry experience is a plus
