Epic's multi-specialized team of attorneys and legal professionals, partner across our organization to provide legal solutions, as well as, consult and inform on the products we build and games we develop.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll act as the primary legal liaison for all important legal requests for Trust & Safety efforts.
In this role, you will
• Advise on law and upcoming changes to law relevant to content moderation and safety by design.
• Provide practical advice on risks and risk mitigation strategies informed by law, industry best practice, and emerging research
• Provide legal support for updates to trust and safety policy changes, process changes, risk assessments, and other document creation
• Act as legal support in trust and safety investigation and escalations
• Coordinate with the legal regulatory team on forthcoming regulatory obligations
• Collaborate cross-functionally within legal team, including other subject matter experts, to ensure fulsome advice
• Engage in conversations with business at all levels, including senior leadership, about risks and compliant opportunities for trust and safety
What we're looking for
• Licensed in good standing to practice law
• 6+ years legal experience, including 4+ years relevant experience focused on Trust and Safety (in-house experience at a fast-paced technology company preferred)
• Hands-on experience providing practical and actional legal guidance regarding risks and obligations under global safety and transparency laws (including EU's Digital Services Act, the UK's Online Safety Act, Australia's Online Safety Act), and relevant regulatory and litigation precedent
• Familiarity with global data protection law, including children's privacy law and age-appropriate design codes, and laws applicable to the use of artificial intelligence in the trust and safety context
• Understanding of safety, transparency, and privacy considerations relevant to user generated content, user-to-user communication features, digital asset marketplaces, non-linear interactive media, and both proactive detection and reactive reporting and appeals
• Familiarity with global video games rating systems a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, an ability to operate autonomously as an expert in your area while exercising good judgment about escalation and collaboration, and confidence in being a primary point of contact for a wide range of internal stakeholders on legal trust and safety issues
• Experience in healthy ways of handling occasional exposure to complex or difficult content
This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
New York City Base Pay Range
$223,819 — $328,268 USD
California Base Pay Range
$223,819 — $328,268 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$223,819 — $328,268 USD
