What We Do
The Identity team owns the services that are the gateway to the Epic Games ecosystem for developers and players of all ages. Our Identity platform grants access to first party game titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, as well as third-party developers leveraging Epic Online Services. The Identity team solves key problems in authentication, authorization, account management, child safety & parental controls, account linking, account security & recovery, data privacy, and more. Because of the critical nature of these services, we often meet with lawyers, executives, security, and/or external stakeholders to create great account experiences for all.
What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for a Engineering Lead to manage a newly formed team within the Identity Engineering organization. This team will be responsible for core services that power our authentication / authorization experiences and enable a wide variety of business use cases. Think of things such as Enterprise SSO, Open ID Connect, and GDPR / Compliance features
In this role, you will
• Work closely with the programmers, producers, QA, and product owners on the team to ensure high quality deliverables and consistent tech alignment within Identity
• Influence and help to define the product roadmap for your team. You will be managing a team working across a variety of projects at any given time
• Run the day-to-day delivery on the team, including agile processes such as standup, retros, and planning
• Provide technical leadership, operational excellence, and architectural guidance to your team
• Manage the performance and career growth of members of the team through transparent, timely, frequent feedback
• Go on-call as a 2nd level escalation point when programmers need help shot-calling and coordinating with others during large-scale incidents
• Own the outcome - Be accountable for the solutions you build and flexible around the ambiguity of the problem space
What we're looking for
• 4-6+ years foundational experience as individual contributor working on high-scale microservices
• At least 3+ years experience as an people manager with at least 3+ direct reports
• Previous experience working on a team in the authZ/authN/IAM domain either as an IC or a lead.
• Ability to provide architectural feedback in tech designs of your team.
• Exceptional people management skills required, including successfully leading a team through growth and change
• Experience with the tech stack we use (Java, AWS, Redis, Mongo, Dynamo, Terraform)
• Hands-on experience implementing protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenIDConnect, WebAuthN
• Previous experience supporting identity, authentication, or account services at scale
• Experience with both agile/waterfall processes and when to use what.
• Previous experience collaborating with upstream mobile teams and programmers
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
British Columbia Base Pay Range
$187,634 — $275,196 CAD
