Job Description
ANALYTICS

What We Do
Our Data & Analytics teams build powerful stories and visuals that inform the games we make, the technology we develop, and business decisions that drive Epic.

What You'll Do

You will primarily drive core analytics, data modeling practices, foundational business reporting, and insights layers for all teams responsible for Fortnite's technical performance. You'll work closely with technical teams to ensure we provide thoughtful reporting layers that are comprehensive and consistent across other reporting layers. You will create thoughtful data models to measure performance changes across different dimensions of hardware specs and patch updates. These models will enable you to investigate issues as they arise, proactively detect when performance is degrading, and report on how optimizations have impacted our players' engagement with our products.

In this role, you will
• Build foundational data models to represent our client and server performance in ways that pinpoint points of failure in our systems and correlate performance changes and the impact on our players' experiences
• Report on how game performance has changed over time and work closely with our observability team to unify real-time and historic data
• Collaborate closely with Epic's performance teams to enable them to centralize and scale their analytics stack

What we're looking for
• 3+ years of industry or relevant experience, with proven interest in and knowledge of live service video games
• Strong understanding of technical aspects of client and server systems and how to utilize high frequency (frame-by-frame) data to report on these systems
• Experience writing efficient and scalable queries over billions of rows in a distributed computing environment with PySpark; it is a plus if you're comfortable in streaming
• Development experience in Python analytics ecosystem
• Thoughtful conceptual data modeling and data architecture practices
• Experience working with development teams to instrument data and ensure continued data quality
• Familiarity with supporting operational processes including code version control (Github or similar) and orchestration (Airflow)
• Passion for the gaming industry and turning data into insights into actions

This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA & WA).
