The Epic Communications team advances the company's narrative and represents Epic products and the company vision to external and internal audiences globally. We create positive relationships and engagement strategies with a wide range of audiences, including media, investors, influencers, and policymakers.
What You'll Do
Epic is seeking an experienced Communications Director to lead communications in Korea and serve as a key advisor to local business and global communications leadership. Reporting into the global Communications team and dotted-line reporting to the Representative director of Epic Games Korea, this role will lead the development and execution of communications strategies and campaigns to strengthen Epic's reputation in Korea with a variety of audiences. In the role, you will focus on supporting and building awareness of the growing Fortnite ecosystem, Unreal Engine, the Epic Games Store and other critical areas including public policy efforts in Korea.
In this role, you will
• Lead all communications initiatives in Korea to support Epic's business while expanding Epic's positive standing and reputation in Korea
• In close collaboration with the global Communications team, deliver and support Epic's corporate narrative, including supporting policy initiatives and managing reactive communications
• Develop/maintain strong relationships with local media, furthering our press network to achieve business objectives
• Drive proactive regional storytelling, making recommendations to local leadership and the global Communications team on how best to support inbound requests and opportunities that highlight players, developers, creators and more in Korea
• Act as the bridge between Epic Games Korea and the global Communications team, ensuring local needs are represented in global strategies, establishing best practices to maintain consistency between global and local communications across all channels
• Plan and execute local press events and activities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders identifying areas of opportunity and growth
• Act as company spokesperson with media; develop and train local spokespeople as needed
What we're looking for
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in communications, with a personal passion for games or proven professional experience within the video games or technology industries
• Written and verbal fluency in both Korean and English with a proven track record of successful collaboration with global teams
• Strong media relations background, including an established network of relevant press contacts to maintain and build in-country storytelling
• Experience leading or supporting local market PR within a global company, including experience building and managing corporate reputation beyond singular products
• A strategic and tactical thinker, a creative problem-solver, working proactively to anticipate changes and challenges and adapt strategy in light of evolving plans or timelines
• Someone with demonstrable experience of reactive and/or policy communications
• A natural collaborator with experience within cross functional and multi-national teams to develop integrated communications strategies, e.g. combined PR and Influencer strategy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience across various communications channels (SNS, blog, etc.)
