As Head of Quantitative Modelling you will be joining the Data Science team and will be responsible for the Pricing Models quant-team that creates pre-match and in-play sports betting forecasting models. The role will be based in London or Athens.
The Goal
What you'll be doing
• Manage the Pricing Models quant-team
• Create pre-match and in-play model prototypes and communicate these clearly to the team for implementation
• Mentor the team on best practices when it comes to creating forecasting pricing models
• Establish testing standards for pricing accuracy and technical performance.
• Ensure coding principles are being implemented
• Ensure that modelling process is well documented
• Create yearly roadmaps with various milestones to monitor the progress of the team.
• Collaborate closely with product owners and software developers to move projects from idea to integration
• Communicate with clients the key elements that govern the model
• Report to the Director of Data Science on workflow and share findings with the Data Science team
The Player
What you'll bring
As a prerequisite to be considered for the role, you must have 3+ years working experience as a Quant or Data Scientist in the betting industry.
• 3+ years working experience in the betting industry
• 3+ years of working experience in a managerial position of a Data Science team
• A postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field
• Advanced programming skills: (a) statistical programming (R or Python), (b) object-oriented programming (C# or Java) and (c) SQL
• Experience with various modelling techniques (e.g. Probability Distributions, GLMs, Monte Carlo Simulations, Bayesian Inference, Time-Series Analysis etc.)
• A demonstrable interest in developing forecasting models for sports
Nice to Haves…
• A PhD in the quantitative field.
• Experience with various supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning methodologies (e.g. Neural Networks, Random Forests, GBMs, SVMs etc.)
• Experience with database management tools
• Experience with data visualisation platforms (e.g. Tableau, Qlik Sense, R-shiny etc.)
• Experience with version control platforms (e.g. GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.)
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
