Dotdash Meredith is looking for a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior Software Engineer with demonstrated technical excellence for an exciting opportunity to design and scale mission-critical pieces of the next generation of our publishing. You will work in a collaborative Agile environment to build high performance UX solutions to develop, expand, and maintain the Content Management System for our new brand-focused mobile application.

In this role you will leverage your full-stack engineering expertise, primarily using Node, Vue, and TypeScript. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and innovation as we redefine content management and solve tough, interesting problems in the mobile-content creation space.

In-office Expectations: This position offers remote work flexibility; however, if you reside within a commutable distance to one of our offices in New York, Des Moines, Birmingham, Los Angeles, Chicago, or Seattle, the expectation is to work from the office three times per month. The teams are located across the country, with leadership centered in NYC and Chicago, so candidates in these areas are preferred.

About Your Contributions:
• Independently develop componentized, responsive and elegant SPA functionality with an eye toward streamlined, design-driven UX, building primarily in VueJS + Tailwind, and working with Pinia for complex state modeling.
• Build and manage the orchestration layer for your application(s) in clean, efficient, and maintainable TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Integrate with a variety of data sources, including REST API endpoints, Firestore or similar NoSQL systems, and GraphQL. Partner with backend teams to define API endpoints and implement efficient, scalable data flow.
• Collaborate effectively with your team of developers, product managers, QA, designers, and external dev teams.
• Leverage your technical expertise in code and design reviews, and help lead conversations about the design and architecture of our codebases, upcoming new builds, and code refactors.
• Maintain high quality standards through code and design reviews, technical-debt identification, unit tests, end-to-end Playwright tests, and collaboration with QA teams.
• Research new technologies and approaches to solve problems and improve existing systems.

About Your Qualifications:

You have a love for technology and problem solving, and a strong desire to deliver quality software as quickly as possible. You have:
• 4+ years of proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining production-ready user-facing applications, with a minimum of 2 years of this time as a full-stack engineer.
• Strong technical proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript, as well as vanilla HTML and CSS. Substantial experience with relevant frameworks for the client (Vue preferred, or similar) and server (Node.js + Express or similar, Nuxt.JS), as well as related build processes (Webpack, Grunt, Gulp or similar).
• Substantial experience working with and building APIs and REST-ful services
• Experience using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues independently, and seek collaborative input from the team to create optimal solutions
• Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).

Pay Range
Salary: $145,000 - $160,000
