The Senior Editor will oversee People's Human Interest vertical, producing compelling news and feature stories in digital and print that explore the emotional topics within the news cycle and meet our high-quality, journalistic standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for news and human interest stories: surprising acts of heroism; family losses, discoveries and triumphs; inspiring love stories; tales of survival; heartwarming reunions; and enduring relationships-in short, stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

The SE will manage our team of Human Interest writers and digital editors, working closely with them to brainstorm news coverage, ideate key second-beat and breakout posts, assign reporting, craft sharp headlines and edit copy. This position will also be responsible for editing long-form content on People.com.

An experienced user of analytics tools and an audience engagement expert, the SE will mine traffic data to identify areas of growth and inspire the team to build upon wins.

The SE will also collaborate with editors from other verticals as well as with the People photo and design departments to oversee human interest coverage across all platforms.

As part of our ongoing newsroom efforts, the SE will aim to produce content that is inclusive and reflective of our diverse audience and to support staffers in writing and editing with sensitivity.
