The Copy Editor position edits content for Premium Publishing and BHG magazine print publications to assure materials meet Dotdash Meredith standards for writing style, clarity, accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and spelling in order to produce industry-leading content. The position serves as the primary copy editing liaison to one or more editorial groups, and that role entails:
- monitoring tracking documents, copy flow, and schedules; alerting Copy Chief to delays when necessary
- providing Copy Chief with weekly report of project status in assigned departments
- attending work sessions and pinup meetings
- addressing style question
- proofreading and approving covers
The position also handles special projects as assigned by Copy Chief and creates original content for the Home Design group of BHG magazine as workflow and availability allow.
This position is based in the Des Moines, Iowa, office. The expectation is that the Copy Editor is physically in the office at least three days per week.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, or Communications or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
Minimum two years experience in editing and creating high-quality written content in the home, food, and/or garden area.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:
• Must be conversant with current editorial usages and trends across print and digital platforms and be able to recognize and apply various writing styles.
• Experience using page-layout software such as Adobe InDesign.
• Expert Macintosh user.
