OVERVIEW
The Developer Productivity team, a member of the Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology organization, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for writing full-featured, developer-facing tools and frameworks using modern technologies across a variety of languages. You will help us facilitate development within our parent team (as well as the organization at large) by building and maintaining batteries-included frameworks that allow devs to quickly begin writing product code without worrying about configuration. You will also take the services developed by other teams and package them in ways that make them intuitive and accessible for developers all across Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology. You are highly proficient in Web technologies (Javascript, HTML and CSS) and experienced in other languages such as Node and Go, with some exposure to backend languages like Scala, Java, and Python. You demonstrate enthusiasm for new technologies, languages, frameworks, and platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Develop tools and frameworks that empowers other engineers all across the organization
• Partner with the UX design team to transform mock-ups into components, pages, and applications
• Join forces with other Platform Foundations teams to provide a more user-friendly experience for their services and data
• Collaborate with the Enterprise Design team to help scope features, identify technical implementation, and ensure we're providing the most impact each sprint
WHAT TO BRING
• Expertise in Web technologies and/or other popular languages (Node, Go, Java, Scala)
• Strong passion for building stable, well-tested applications and packages in a collaborative environment
• 5+ years of experience developing large, well-tested applications
• Excellent debugging skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
NICE TO HAVES
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and/or Terraform
The hiring range for this position in California is $136,100 to $182,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
