The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end to end development for Disney's world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data. As a member of the Sports Core Data Ingest team, you will help build and support the applications behind the live processing of our sports platform, the content integrations that deliver the great ESPN storytelling content to all of our products, the taxonomy systems used to classify all of our data and content, as well as the backend systems in support of our content and data tools, all of which have a direct impact and exposure through many products like the ESPN app, ESPN.com, ESPN Studio shows, among many others. We are looking for a passionate, impactful technologist who seeks to bring the best out in themselves and those around them, and someone who can provide a fresh perspective and bring innovative insight to our initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Be involved in the requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of systems that support or enhance other applications within our environment.
• Collaborate & troubleshoot with the rest of the team in the analysis and resolution of hard engineering problems involving the ingest of sports data from many different providers in a multitude of data delivery technologies, including taking part of the on-call rotation.
• Think of new ways to help make our data platform more scalable, resilient, and reliable and then work across our team to put your ideas into action. Research and learn new technologies
• Write code, complete programming, write tests, perform testing and debug code in collaboration with other Software Engineers on the team
• Contribute to the evolution of the team's software engineering practices, recommending changes in development, coding, maintenance and system standards

Basic Qualifications:
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent.
• Demonstrated proficiency in developing high volume, cached, fault tolerant, multi-threaded scalable systems.
• Exposure to full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of software and database projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving. Strong analytical skills as well as solid capabilities for debugging and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Java and open-source technologies like Spring, Tomcat, MySQL, Kafka, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS EC2, ECS, SQS, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, etc.
• Familiarity with relational databases.

#DISNEYTECH

The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT is $112,600 - $151,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
