Job Description
The Disney Entertainment Television Photography Department in New York is seeking a photo editor. This position is responsible for the ingest, edit, captioning, distribution and archiving of hundreds of assets per week to support various dayparts under the Disney Entertainment Television umbrella. The titles our team supports include, but are not exclusive to, Good Morning America, GMA3, Live with Kelly and Mark, The View, Tamron Hall, as well as multiple ABC News programs and Disney Corporate events both on-campus and remotely. The editor will also participate in a variety of film editing, organizing and database projects related to the ABC Photo Archives, as part of our ongoing initiative to digitize millions of assets.
Responsibilities:
• This role will edit images for a variety of DGE titles based in New York related to ABC News, Disney Advertising and DGE Entertainment; as well as various events and Disney Corporate Initiatives
• Caption and apply metadata so that images can be accessed via our DGE press site and internal database
• Photo library entries, photo requests, research projects
• Help maintain and manage our internal database and archiving systems. Those responsibilities include transferring, renaming, applying metadata, scanning, uploading current and archival photography
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in visual communications, media, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital photo editing and captioning skills, preferably in a media environment
• Excellent digital photo editing and captioning skills
• Knowledge /skill set in all programs in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite especially Photoshop, Lightroom, In Design, etc.
• Strong knowledge of Photo Mechanic, Capture One
• Basic understanding of cloud storage operations
• Film editing skills a plus, i.e. 35 mm slides, negatives, chromes
• Careful, thoughtful eye, basic retouching, and color correction skills
• Very responsible and detail oriented
• Works well under pressure and can meet deadlines
• Able to multitask and identify priorities during a demanding workday
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to work well with a variety of photographers and media professionals with comfort and ease
• A love for photography and the visual arts
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $75,200 to $103,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
