Business Affairs Summer Associate (Disney Theatrical Group)

The Business Affairs and Legal Counsel department provides all business affairs and legal counsel services to Disney Theatrical Group, including negotiating creative talent, vendor, international licensee, and a myriad of other deals relating to DTG's worldwide business; negotiating and drafting contracts relating to those deals; and partnering with very department at DTG to provide business and legal counsel.  The Labor Relations department supports all of DTG's collective bargaining negotiations and agreements and works with DTG's business units to provide labor relations support and counsel. This summer associate position is designed to provide law students with experience in and exposure to both departments, with the expectation that the summer associate will predominantly sit in the Business Affairs and Legal Counsel department with at least one day per week spent devoted to the Labor Relations department.

This internship is a full-time commitment in the NYC, New York area from May 27, 2025 through August 8, 2025. A cover letter is required for this Disney Theatrical Group JD Summer Associate.

Responsibilities Include:
• Assisting with drafting contracts and responding to and/or discussing comments with attorneys
• Updating and creating new databases of deal summaries.
• Creating library of template contract provisions and template contracts.        
• Conducting legal research relating to contract, deal precedents and current collective bargaining agreements.
• Liaising with other Disney legal departments throughout the company to gather information and assist department members' legal analysis
• Supporting arbitration hearings by performing legal research and preparing exhibits
• Coordinating with Company business units with regards to proposals for upcoming CBA negotiations

Required Skills:
• Superior written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with Word and Excel

Preferred Skills:
• Coursework in copyright, entertainment business, entertainment law or other intellectual property areas, a plus
• Interest in entertainment business or entertainment law, with theatre interest, a plus

Education:
• Completion of at least the 1st year of law school in a current JD program at the start of the internship

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a graduate degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information:
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
• Fully available from Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm EST for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.
• Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the New York, NY area.
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from

The pay rate for this role in New York is $41.40 per hour.
