The Job

The Associate Producer of Longform narrative podcasts for CNN Audio will assist on long-form documentary-style podcasts while also contributing to news briefs and live events.

The ideal candidate must be a good writer and audio storyteller who is at ease working on multiple projects simultaneously. S/he will work closely with producers and hosts on series spanning genres ranging from history and popular culture to in-depth investigations. Proficiency in ProTools, along with a command of in-studio and field recording is strongly preferred.

The Daily
• Work closely with the producers and hosts on the development of narrative podcasts from ideation to execution, whilst improving upon existing properties.
• Book guests and handle all associated booking logistics.
• Prepare editorial research for scripting and preparatory materials for interviews.
• Manage recordings.
• Collaborate with producers on episode outline and participate in initial scripting.
• Edit audio selects and rough cuts of individual episodes.
• Fact check scripts and ensure that all episodes meet the content, quality, and journalistic and legal standards of CNN.
• Assist with accompanying news articles.
• Edit news briefs
• Coordinates with marketing, PR, social, and programming teams in creation of content and strategies to maximize audience and engagement. Examples include - key art, social media content, promos, trailers, rollout details for CNN TV and digital.

The Essentials
• 2+ years of editorial experience, with a strong audio background.
• Bachelor's degree
• Extensive knowledge of podcasting industry.
• Good writing skills.
• Proficiency in ProTools and audio recording,
• Passion for politics, history and popular culture
• Strong collaboration, communication, excellent teamwork and team-building skills. Ability to thrive under pressure with diverse staff and talent
• Flexibility with operating in a 24/7 environment
• Ability to travel as needed; up to 25% annually
