The Research and Content Analyst will work closely with the Executive Director of Research and Content Analytics at Cineverse to drive data-centric strategies across the organization. The role will focus on fostering a data-driven culture within the company and ensuring the delivery of actionable, insightful analysis that informs key business decisions across content, programming, partnerships, marketing, sales, finance, and more. The position requires an in-depth understanding of the evolving entertainment landscape, particularly within the rapidly changing FAST/SVOD sector. Key responsibilities will include data mining, in-depth analysis, and strategic recommendations based on audience, platform, and competitive data, with a strong emphasis on data storytelling and visualization.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, driven to tackle complex challenges, and passionate about media and entertainment. Content expertise and an ability to translate data insights into clear strategic recommendations are important for success in this role.
Essential Functions
• Partner with the Executive Director to define and prioritize research and analytics objectives, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
• Create and deliver comprehensive research reports, dashboards, and visualizations that monitor the performance of Cineverse's channels and brands across FAST and SVOD platforms.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize automated data ingestion from various partners, translating it into dynamic, actionable visualizations.
• Support content programming teams by conducting title-level greenlighting and renewal analyses, providing narratives around valuation and performance to key stakeholders.
• Use data-driven insights to guide the programming and acquisitions teams on initiatives such as stunts, refresh rates, and genre needs.
• Aid in generating revenue related metrics (i.e. ROI, CPM, etc.) to assess various content.
• Perform competitive analyses of the entertainment landscape to identify emerging trends and potential opportunities.
• Analyze the underlying reasons behind trends observed in both internal and industry data and develop actionable insights.
• Compile and communicate content performance analyses through reports and presentations, often in response to ad hoc requests from senior leadership.
• Assist in creating executive-level materials for presentations on content strategy, new initiatives, and critical business decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of media industry trends, competitive activity, and evolving technologies.
Desired Characteristics
• BA/BS in Marketing, Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 3-6 years of experience in research, content analytics, or driving strategic/corporate initiatives, preferably within the media or communications sector. Experience in FAST/SVOD environments is a plus but not required.
• Strong understanding of content and content consumption patterns across various platforms.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to distill complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations that drive informed decision-making.
• Ability to synthesize analysis results, identify key insights, form hypotheses, and guide further exploration.
• Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and experience with data visualization tools/software.
• Proven ability to create executive-level presentations, with an eye for design and simplifying complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Passion for entertainment, staying ahead of industry trends, and understanding the future direction of media consumption.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and relevant data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
