OUR STORY
• THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE is a charter member of Major League Baseball's National League. Since 1876, the team has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee sign, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1914, making it the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

The Assistant Director, Event Security Operations, is a principal member of the Security leadership team. The Assistant Director is critical to executing the overall strategy to effectively and efficiently identify, mitigate, prevent, or eliminate unnecessary risk facing the Cubs organization by following an Intelligence-led approach to organizational security. The Assistant Director will help maintain security standards while striving to increase the fan experience. Specifically, this position will lead the Security Operations team which provides event safety and security services to the Wrigley Field campus, provides direct supervision to associate and vendor ingress and egress operations (including scheduling of part-time staff and management of supporting technology), and management of any contract security companies or personnel providing enhanced gameday and concert security services as contractually defined. The Assistant Director will provide oversight to the Supervisor of Protective Services. The Assistant Director will support all software and hardware components of technology systems utilized to secure the campus, associates, and guests of Wrigley Field and will perform all other duties as assigned.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
• Oversee a variety of event tasks to include but not limited to staff administration, deployment, and collaboration with the Assistant Director of Special Events to ensure best-in-class events held on the Wrigley Campus.
• Oversee the Event Security Manager and Event Security Senior Supervisor, who lead the Security Services Ambassador (SSA) Team, specifically a all part-time, and seasonal Associates employed by the Chicago Cubs, who collectively provide best-in-class security service in conformance with Chicago Cubs policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to ensure yearly training sessions remain in compliance with Department of Homeland Security Act (DHSSA) and MLB's BSOP standards.
• In coordination with the Assistant Director, Guest Services, serve as the main point of contact for all guest related incidents to ensure that they are properly handled, while also maintaining the highest level of professionalism by Security staff.
• Create a culture of best-in-class customer service for all Security Service Ambassadors, creating unique training and scenario-based learning environments to improve customer service over the course of the season.
• Collaborate with the Joint Operations Command (JOC) Manager to develop and then lead Emergency Response training and exercises for the SSA Team and organization to include weather-related incidents, event delays, shelter-in-place, lockdown, and evacuation during major events held at/on the Wrigley Field campus.
• Assist with the development, testing, and deployment of the overall safety and security strategy in cooperation with the Vice President, Security, and work collaboratively with department managers of the Safety and Security Department, as well as, with other leaders of other Cubs entities within Ballpark Operations, Baseball Operations, Finance, HR, IT, and others engaged as partners in execution of that strategy.
• Assist with the integration of Security Service Ambassadors into all technology systems used on game days.
• Serve as the main point of contact with Law Enforcement for all event-based incidents that require additional leadership, management, and or follow-up.
• In collaboration with the JOC Manager, proactively seek new technology systems that improve the overall safety and security strategy for the organization to utilize on event days.
• Assist with the overall event management from within the Joint Operations Center, while collaborating with other key stakeholders in the event of an incident, emergency, or issue.
• Assist with any investigative efforts of incidents to include thorough documentation, executing the Cubs' overall intelligence-led safety and security strategy, as well as strategically deploying and directing security resources.
• As the leading Event Security official, regularly assessing Security Service Ambassador's capabilities and areas of improvement, conducting spot checks, check-ins, and participating in the organization's Red Team testing to improve both the security strategy and customer service approach by staff.
• Collaborate with other departments such as, events, partnerships, sales, and marketing to ensure security requirements are met.
• Ensure support and alignment for large-scale non-baseball events including concerts, football games, Cubs convention, etc.
• Manage budgeting, staffing levels, and labor utilization for Security Operations at Wrigley Field Events including any third-party security related contractors used to augment security on the Wrigley Field campus.
• Assist with the management of the Security Department's overall Capital Expenditures budget, including leading projects specific to event Security and improvements.
• Maintain working relationships with key public sector departments that support Wrigley Field, including but not limited to Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management and Communication.
• Oversee the Organization's Traveling Security Professionals, responsible for providing security while the team travels throughout the season and providing personal security to select individuals that may require a security escort while at any of the Organization's facilities.
• Maintains a close relationship with the Organizations other Cubs facilities and other minor league affiliates.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be available to work the majority of the 81 home games, concerts and large-scale events.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• 4-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 10 years of experience working in the security industry.
