SUMMARY

WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV, the CBS-owned duopoly in Detroit, is looking for an experienced and passionate Multi-Skilled Anchor to join our new and original streaming first newscasts. The ideal candidate brings credibility, dynamic presentation, warmth and confidence to our newscasts. The ideal candidate is an expert communicator on-air, online and on social media platforms. You must demonstrate the ability to handle breaking news with ease, have the stamina and energy to anchor for several hours and help produce original reports when time allows. In addition to on-air duties, this position will represent CBS News Detroit at a variety of public and station events.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proven success in enterprising and reporting compelling stories that empower, connect, reach, and engage by looking through a compassionate lens that makes a difference in the community and give a voice for those left unheard
• Comfortably report live and recorded, scripted and unscripted, with clarity, accuracy and confidence
• Collaborate optimally with a wide range of personnel to create compelling content and newsworthy stories
• Maintain a steadfast commitment to accuracy and fairness
• Write clearly and understand how to captivate viewers/readers, and use video and graphics to illustrate story facts and ideas
• Build sources, generate story ideas and participate in editorial meetings in order to engage our audience
• Must be confident and comfortable in delivering content in an unscripted format on-air
• Must be able to edit video; utilize iNews rundowns; manipulate scripts and coordinate with crews in the field

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years experience on-air, preferably in a top 20 market
• A passionate storyteller that wants to make a difference in the communities we serve
• Must have very strong social media skills and be able to contribute on all platforms
• Must be able to work a irregular schedule including nights, holidays, weekends
• Must be a team player and able to work under deadlines and have the ability to multi-task
• College degree in Journalism/Communications/Broadcasting preferred; equivalent experience
