Job Description
Director (ELC)
KPIX – CBS News Bay Area in San Francisco is adding to its team of ELC directors and actively searching for the right person to become part of this dynamic team.
The candidate we're looking for is a phenomenal communicator, has strong organizational skills and can break out of the mold of a coded newscast and pivot to breaking news when the moment happens. We're looking for a director who can obviously handle the pressure of live news but also loves the thrill of the unexpected in a live environment. If you're ready to work with an organization that challenges the norm when it comes to how the local news story is told we've got something for you to see.
We're all about storytelling and innovation. And this storytelling translates into how we visually tell the story of the day in every newscast. As an ELC director at CBS News Bay Area you'll be working with show producers creating dynamic visual newscasts in a studio space with studio jibs and real jib operators. Robotic cameras are around too…but only if we really need to use them.
You'll be verbally calling the shots as anchors work the full studio environment with the jib camera following along using the studio space to tell the story. And when it's time for weather you won't just be cutting to a basic chroma key or video wall. You'll be taking the viewer to a stunning virtual environment using groundbreaking technology from Zero Density. Imagine coding and directing a full newscast in an immersive virtual environment controlled by ELC. That's us!
We are news. But we're also more than just news. CBS News Bay Area is the community leader in annual live events, from music festivals, air shows and colorful community parade.
