Overview and Responsibilities:

Interested in joining the team? The CBS New York is seeking a WGA Assignment Editor to work in its New York City Broadcast Center!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Covers the CBS News New York assignment desk (including answering phones)
• Build, prioritize and coordinate news coverage in a fast‐paced environment for CBS New York.
• Continually and efficiently monitor news wire services and social media to find and identify breaking news and key news developments
• Write and distribute a daily division‐wide communication outlining key events and happenings to facilitate efficient live coverage; help plan coverage for future events
• Assist in clearing video and securing guests and witnesses
• Dispatch crews to stories and breaking news, using appropriate logistical and journalistic judgment
• Assist in finding stories with emphasis on our key brand points and tracking stories as they develop
• Manage time and logistics to make sure the selected stories are covered efficiently with available staff

Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience at a larger market local, cable division, or network newsroom
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating coverage for live television
• Available for early morning, nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Additional Qualifications:
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a challenging, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and partners
• ENPS/iNEWS familiarity
• Familiarity with remote productions, transmission pools

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $53,508.00 - 102,284.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
