Job Description
The Senior Producer must be a seasoned journalist and creative problem solver with previous experience in live television news. They should also have experience in crafting dynamic live segments, guest booking and a deep understanding of the building and timing of a rundown. The desired candidate will also need to be a strong writer and have experience in helping producers craft and write pieces. Management experience is a must. This person should have an interest in developing recurring series for the show on topics like pop culture, wellness and pocketbook issues and should be good at taking the main news stories of the day and determining alternative ways to expand upon them. This senior producer will work very closely with the Senior Broadcast Producer and Executive Producer of the show. This is an afternoon to nightside position that will start off as full-time in office but has the ability to become a hybrid position later.

Job description:
• Manage day-to-day production and editorial for multiple producing teams.
• Assign stories to staff, manage workflow, review and edit content including pitches, pre-production, scripts, question documents, and screenings.
• Coordinate with bookers for competitive future bookings ranging from politics to entertainment.
• Work closely with broadcast producers and management regarding upcoming stories, ongoing projects, and weekly lineups.
• Monitor and evaluate a range of performance metrics and devise creative, innovative strategies to improve engagement and build our presence on current and emerging platforms.
• Collaborate with social and digital teams as well as marketing, public revelations and other CBS entities for network-wide coverage and specials

Qualifications:
• Strong editorial judgment.
• 8+ years of journalism experience at a broadcast network, cable, or digital news company.
• Strong background in writing, copy editing, field production and video production.
• Proven track record of team management with a positive culture.
• Must be able to work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require; Must be willing to work during evening hours
• Must possess a driver's license and be willing to drive

Preferred qualifications:
• Some experience shooting and editing experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $180,000.00 - 190,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
