Job Description
Overview & Responsibilities:

CBS News is seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team! The Senior Financial Analyst will perform a variety of financial activities including assisting with the financial planning and budgeting processes, forecasting, building financial models, preparing reports and presentations, and performing research and analysis using large data sets. The ideal candidate is well organized, solution-oriented, and able to take initiative. This role will report into the FP&A Senior Manager of CBS News.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Create financial models and perform complex scenario analysis for projects that span multiple business units including News Broadcasts, Newsgathering & Operations
• Work with the FP&A Director to manage capital expenditure requests, cloud computing costs and news archive financials
• Assist in monthly close process including preparation of journal entries, accruals and variance analysis
• Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate with the CBS News & Operations team on the monthly forecast and assist in development and preparation of the annual budget and long-range financial plan
• Prepare monthly budget performance reports for CBS News departments and broadcasts
• Update and provide trend analysis for overtime & operations dashboard. Work with business units to manage overtime and reduce cost to CBS News
• Assist FP&A leaders to prepare presentations and other key materials for the CBS News leadership team

Basic Qualifications:

The right individual will have the following skills and experience to be successful in the role:
• Bachelor's degree required, a focus in Finance, Analytics or related area preferred
• 4 to 5+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and financial modeling; experience in investment banking, consulting, or corporate development is preferred

Additional Qualifications:
• Exceptional Excel, PowerPoint and financial modeling skills
• Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts and accounting principles
• Proactive, self-starter with multi-tasking abilities to manage competing priorities and capable of discerning when issues need to be escalated
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail with strong problem solving and critical thinking ability
• Ability to work in a team environment while working independently on multiple tasks
• Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $72,900.00 - 95,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
