Producer, CBS Mornings

Job Description

CBS MORNINGS is seeking a hard-working, creative, and enterprising Producer with very strong writing skills. This Producer will work mainly late afternoon into the evening hours to take a segment from conception to completion for the next day. The Producer will work under strict deadlines while coordinating closely with anchors, senior producers, editors, artists, and fellow producers to build thoughtful and compelling short-form packages and segments for CBS Mornings. It is essential that this Producer is a quick-study and has a firm grasp on the daily news cycle, while being able to come up with unique takes to help us take conversations to the next level. The ideal candidate must have experience with package producing along with live segment producing. We are looking for a multi-tool player.

Basic Qualifications
• At least 6 years of editorial production experience at either a national or local level for television or large digital outlets.
• Live segment and package producing experience is a must
• Ability to craft compelling news segments using a combination of words, pictures, sound, and graphics.
• Possesses a strong command of current events and can put together well-developed story pitches tailored to fit the CBS Mornings show format.
• Exhibits proven editorial judgment and a track record of optimally chasing breaking news, tracking developments, and discerning reportable information.
• Excellent writing skills with a focus on clear and effective communication, especially when managing sensitive stories.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deal with intense deadlines, and react with thoughtful programming ideas and questions
• Strong communication skills
• You are a self-starter while also taking direction from anchors and senior producers
• Understanding of newsgathering and transmission technology
• Strong research skills and familiarity with public and private records databases, such as Lexis Nexis
• Experience operating cameras and shooting pieces required.
• Experience editing is required.
• Must possess a driver's license and be willing to drive

Desired Qualifications
• Editor and Artist Management: The Producer will need to have a full understanding of their editor's and artist's responsibilities and the ability to ''speak their language.'' While the editor cuts and the artist designs, the Producer will be problem solving and always looking for creative solutions.

Additional Information:
• Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 2pm - 10p ET with the need for flexibility.
• Work Model: A hybrid work-from-home model will be considered for this position at some point, but to start, it will be a full-time in office position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $90,000.00 - 110,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
