Job Description

BYUtv is seeking an innovative and experienced freelance scripted producer to work as a network producer for BYUtv. You will oversee a variety of scripted programming from initial development through current production and final delivery. The producer will work directly with our internal content development team at BYUtv and will work in close contact with our Director of Content and/or Executive Producers.

Primary focus for this position will be on BYUtv but the producer may be assigned to oversee projects for any BYUB channel/property.

Assigned development and production activities include:

  • Casting and design

  • Creation of new series in partnership with external production companies

  • Development of scripts

  • Noting episodes from rough cut to final delivery

  • Working closely with internal and external producers, cast, and crew throughout the development, production, and post-production process, including auxiliary materials (press materials, marketing assets, etc.)

  • Working closely with the production management team to help oversee and enforce budgets schedules

  • Working closely with internal marketing managers to ensure alignment between content and marketing

Requirements

  • Equivalent primetime work experience as a scripted network/studio executive OR as a co-executive level producer (or above) on original scripted programming in hour, half-hour, animated, live-action, drama, and/or comedy series

  • An established strategic and creative record of developing commercially and critically successful programming

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the scripted series production process

  • Deep understanding of a family friendly and co-viewing audience

  • Strong existing relationships with production companies, agents, writers, producers,etc.

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once and be able to manage and clearly communicate creative expectations

  • Ability to troubleshoot creative and production related issues with both internal and external production partners

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees

  • Must have the creative taste and judgment to operate within BYUtv’s editorial guidelines

  • Weekly Rate: $1,000 to $4,000 dependent on experience and assigned project(s).
