The Role

HuffPost UK is looking for a skilled and energetic Senior Audience Editor to join our team in London. As an expert in both social media and SEO, you will be responsible for growing our reach, loyalty and engagement against site goals.

You will help shape our distribution strategies across multiple platforms, oversee the HuffPost UK front page, as well as guiding our commissioning process to help ensure our stories resonate with our current audience, as well as expanding our reach.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced editor with a background in politics, lifestyle or entertainment journalism, who is comfortable using data and analytics to inform all decision-making and headlines. You will have excellent editorial judgement and have experience directly working with or managing trends reporters and journalists.

As a social media native you will oversee output on HuffPost UK's social channels and managing relationships with our distribution partners. As an expert in SEO, you'll understand how to spot trending topics and deliver up-to-the-second headline advice to editors.

You Will
• Develop social and SEO strategy with the EIC, HuffPost international team and BuzzFeed's audience editors
• Use analytics tools and data to improve understanding of what does well on each platform, then use this knowledge to communicate best practice across the newsroom and maximise the impact of our journalism
• Nurture HuffPost UK's relationship with third-party platforms (Apple News, Upday, Flipboard, etc) including day-to-day communication to make third parties aware of our priority stories as well as working with the content team to ensure we are first to deliver stories to them
• Know how to write headlines and social sells that will get people talking
• Work directly with trends reporters and editors to inform commissioning across all areas of HuffPost UK
• Communicate and brainstorm with content creators to achieve goals and meet deadlines
• Edit the front page of the HuffPost UK website and app, curating our journalism for maximum impact and audience, including our weekend content, special projects and for big events
• Leverage Facebook Analytics and third party tools for tracking and reporting on content performance
• Help maintain the kind and collaborative HuffPost culture
• Be comfortable in a fast-paced, creatively demanding work environment that requires meticulous attention to detail
• Be a self-motivated person who isn't afraid to carve out new responsibilities for themselves

You Have
• A proven understanding of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and experience running social media accounts for a major publisher or brand
• A keen sense for how to make stories compelling using images, headlines, and other publishing elements
• Rock-solid news judgement; know when a story matters, when it doesn't - and why
• Terrific communication skills and able to collaborate with a range of teams across the country and around the world
• A willingness to experiment and reiterate on past successes, and be interested in analysing the results of our work to help inspire the newsroom
• An interest in the latest internet trends and social platforms and have the ability to adapt own work accordingly
• Knowledge of Photoshop and Premiere Pro is a plus
• A genuine love and excitement for the internet and social media
