Job Description
Leverages strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills to evaluate emerging music industry trends, conduct research to gauge the Company's competitive position and inform business decisions in identifying, evaluating, proposing, pursuing, and reporting on strategic growth opportunities, through acquisitions and partnerships, and provide support to team members in understanding complex industry topics.

LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Monitors and identifies emerging music industry business trends to facilitate an understanding of the current landscape and new capabilities within the marketplace.
• Identifies competitive threats and opportunities and defines a strategic approach to new challenges within the industry through collaboration with various team members.
• Conducts competitive analysis - Benchmarking capabilities, service offerings, and other analysis to assess the Company's competitive position and identify potential new service offerings.
• Assists VP, Business Development and Executive Director, Strategic Market Research with assessing prospective industry partners through due diligence of business models, capabilities, competitors, financial growth, and potential strategic impacts.
• Evaluates the marketplace for prospective strategic partnerships to address a specific capability or business need in alignment with BMI's Value Creation Plan.
• Keeps management informed of industry dynamics that could impact the Company and provide recommendations to address the needs of multiple stakeholders.
• Works closely with business partners and business teams to develop internal educational materials on complex music industry topics and presents materials to various audiences.

General Responsibilities
• Maintains and promotes teamwork within the department.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required with a background in Music Business preferred.
Experience: Minimum three years of relevant work experience (market research, market data research, etc.) or transferable skills as listed below.

• Ability to organize and present complex research and analysis results in a simplified visual format.

• Demonstrates initiative and willingness to participate in educational opportunities and industry events.
• Strong Company knowledge: understands how the teams integrate and the strategic concept behind company goals.

• Ability to build and sustain collaborative working relationships at all levels and work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and other applicable technology. Expert excel level skills.

SALARY RANGE
The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
