Job Description

Bentkey Ventures (The Daily Wire) is looking for a Technical Director. Under the direction of the Bentkey Director of Production, the Technical Director will oversee all Bentkey show operations from a technical standpoint and ensure that our show quality and timeliness consistently hit the high-quality standards of the company. Responsibilities:

• Perform live switching on Bentkey video content
• Oversee operations of shows
• Lead sound mixer, playback operator, and PAs through show operations
• Maintain show quality and timeliness
• Provide creative services such as but not limited to: show prep, color, composition, graphic design, lighting, etc. for video and audio content
• Work with Producers to ensure the best show production quality possible
• Work with production team to ensure quality and timely work
• Plot cameras and on set elements such as furniture and monitors, to achieve the best coverage possible for each show
• Direct and manage Camera Operators and camera shots during live or taped broadcasts
• Execute creative notes on video content
• Execute the creative vision of clients, Talent, and company executives on video content
• Oversee and build out show profiles in the production hardware including: switcher, router, and graphic/media computers
• Work with 1st Assistant Director, Director of Production, and Executive VP of Production to create manageable budgets and schedules for production delivery and crew organization
• Meet scheduled deadlines
• Provide limited consultation directly to contractors under supervision of Director of Production and company executives
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience & Requirements:

• At least 2+ years of similar work experience in a professional production environment preferred
• Working knowledge of current relevant technology and systems including but not limited to: Ross Video Systems (Graphite, Xpression, Ultrix), playback software (Media Express, QLab, Pro Video Server), and cameras (Panasonic EVA-1, Blackmagic studio cameras)
• Familiar with live-streaming systems and practices
• Working knowledge of video
• Familiar with all aspects of production for video production
• Strong instinct for creative work and storytelling
• Proficient in use of show board switchers
• Interest in and/or familiarity with the political and editorial news landscapes a plus
