Job Description
The Amazon Studios and Prime Video Consumer Insights team is looking for a highly motivated Sr. Research Manager to lead customer-focused primary research projects to help inform Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) content and marketing strategy supporting Amazon Studios and Prime Video. The successful candidate will have proven proficiency in market research principles, direct project management experience and a background in conducting research in ANZ. They will have strong analytical abilities and proficient written and verbal communication skills. They will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail), and will enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. They will work closely with Data Science, Creative Development, Marketing and Finance teams, always making sure to represent the voice of our customers. The Sr. Research Manager will sit in Australia (Sydney) with primary stakeholders based in Australia and the US.

The ideal candidate will:
- Possess an understanding of viewing behavior and content trends across the ANZ markets
- Demonstrate applied knowledge across the core phases of the market research cycle: awareness, targeting, acquisition and retention; as well as testing brand/genres and ad trailer studies.
- Have experience setting research objectives, writing surveys, creating screeners, sound sampling / weighting schemes, and analyzing results.
- Identify appropriate methodologies based on business and research objectives.
- Help guide social media analysis and benchmarking awareness for new/returning series premieres.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure successful execution of research projects (domestic and global), overseeing day to day project management/direction, quality controls, and the integrity of deliverables.
- Lead strategic research using primary, secondary and syndicated data sources.
- Have the ability to dive deep and translate complex data sets into clear and compelling written narrative.
- Exhibit strong presentation skills showing confidence and expertise in delivering actionable research insights.
- Accurately represent and advocate for the Prime Video customer in all analysis and meetings.
- Take ownership of research studies end to end.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead primary research that will support the definition of our content strategy.
- Work with creative development teams on insights for specific series and movies development.
- Work with Content Marketing in the qualification of concepts and creative execution of campaigns to improve our ROI.
- Lead primary research to uncover drivers and barriers for the adoption of streaming services.
- Work with Acquisition and Engagement Marketing teams on product / feature improvements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of professional experience in the market research field
- Experience using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Proven written and verbal communication skills to convey key insights from analysis
- Proficiency in a tabulation or statistical package such as SPSS, SAS, Wincross, R, Python
- Experience with applied statistics, predictive analytics, and mixed methodology research
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams
- BS/BA from accredited 4 year university
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience on the research vendor side, marketing agency or within the research group of a media company
- Understanding of the television programming landscape is a plus
- Experience leading different types of viewer studies such as episode testing, dial testing, concept testing, series maintenance
- Direct experience leading studies across with various methodologies: online quant surveys, focus groups, 1:1, ethnos, online qual, mobile
- Experience with various statistical techniques (regression analysis, coefficient correlation)
- Familiarity with ANZ/US series, films and ANZ actor/actress/comedian, etc.
- Meets/exceed Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
- Stay abreast of television and research industry news, trends and best practices
