Job summary
We are looking for a creative, analytical and results-oriented Head of Music Programming (m/f/d) for Germany and Austria. This role is responsible for leading our Programming efforts by developing playlist, station and discovery experiences for our customers and managing the team that delivers those week-to-week.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned strategist, with an understanding of customer engagement and will have the skills to deliver the best experience possible for music fans across a variety of genres.

The Programming team at Amazon works with counterparts across Product, Label Relations, Editorial, Marketing, Original Content and Operations. This leader should demonstrate strength in working cross-functionally and building consensus, bringing a strong business and cultural judgement to decisions and influence our global programming strategy.

The ideal candidate will additionally have an entrepreneurial spirit and will be highly analytical. He/she will have a reputation as a respected voice within the industry and will bring tenure and a track record of building and developing people and organizations, making data-driven decisions, identifying and adding process improvements and advocating on behalf of customers. A track record of proven experience and delivering results both within and outside his/her organization is a must.

This role can also be based in Munich, Germany.

Key job responsibilities
• Manage a team that has depth of knowledge and expertise in all key genres
• Set both short-term and long-term strategic goals and objectives for the programming team
• Evaluate the popularity of content and formats and develop recommendations for actions
• Execution of customer analyses and market studies
• Build out and oversee station and playlist programming for Amazon Music customers and apply a deep understanding of customer expectation to both
• Shape the customer experience for engagement with music across visual platforms and Alexa-enabled devices
• Develop relationships with content creators and the industry to build unique programming for Amazon Music customers
• Determine the metrics and analytics that best inform our programming
• Share expertise and best practices within the global programming team
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to improve and expand Amazon's content offerings to customers
• Create an environment which motivates people to thrive in their expertise and deliver ambitious results
• Hire and develop a high performing, diverse team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Significant relevant work experience, ideally in music or other subscription services across a diverse set of genres
• Demonstrated success in leading and managing a team
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining senior level contacts
• Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
• Strong leadership and people development experience
• Proven analytical skills in absorbing and using data to drive fast accurate decisions for the customer
• Ability to manage time and multiple priorities to execute high quality deliverables
• Fluency in German and English. Superior oral and written communication skills with an innate attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or relevant field of study or equivalent experience
• Experience of operating and collaborating in a fast-paced, cross-functional matrix global organization
• A proven track record of invention or innovation
• Demonstrated experience of driving process and tool improvements
• Extensive industry network with broad music industry awareness
