What we do:

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join the Platform Team. We build monitoring infrastructure for complex distributed systems. Using a combination of open source projects and extensive custom software our focus is on improving the experience of on call engineers during outages and incidents. Our monitoring systems are high scale, and highly available. Many companies struggle with high volumes of low value alerts. We are working towards building human-aware systems to improve actionability of system alerting, with a high priority on reducing alert fatigue

The responsibilities of this role include:
• Writing highly available software that considers the challenges of large-scale distributed systems.
• Developing, evolving, scaling, productizing and supporting DC inventory, and automated operations supervising tooling.
• Building and maintaining services in Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding the purpose and impact of Demonware's diverse array of interconnected services at a high level. Over time, you will be required to reason about the entire Demonware ecosystem in order to propose meaningful improvements.
• Leading and/or actively participating in key infrastructure integration projects involving multiple teams.
• Load testing, fixing and debugging, often in collaboration with various internal teams.
• Performing root cause analysis and proposing and/or implementing appropriate engineering solutions to prevent or mitigate recurring incidents.
• Active participation in design and code reviews.
• Participation in a tier-1 on-call support rotation.

These are some of the qualities we look for in an ideal candidate:
• Excellent collaboration skills, with a strong emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion principles.
• Excellent Python skills.
• Experience developing and deploying applications in Kubernetes.
• Ansible, Terraform, Puppet or Salt experience. (We use Puppet and Ansible.)
• Experience using self-serve fully automated deployments using Helm, and Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
• Application design and prototyping experience.
• Hybrid environment experience - we work with a combination of VM workloads deployed via puppet, and Kubernetes workloads deployed with CI/CD tooling.
