Job Description
The Senior Vice President, Longform Content will lead the development of longform content for ABC News, overseeing storytelling across linear and digital platforms and elevating the organization's brand as a leader in in-depth journalism. Reporting directly to the President of ABC News, the SVP will drive strategy, innovation, and execution for documentary and narrative projects that align with the organization's mission to deliver impactful, trusted, and compelling news content to global audiences.
Responsibilities:
• As a member of the senior executive team, the SVP sets the strategy and vision for ABC News' direct-to-consumer content, ensuring the News division's programming and content reaches multi-cultural audiences across linear and digital platforms, driving audience engagement.
• Oversees the development pipeline of ABC News original unscripted documentaries, long-lead specials, and series across linear and digital platforms including ABC, National Geographic, Disney+, and Hulu. Owner of greenlight process and budget.
• Represents ABC News with Platform Distribution to influence and develop cross-platform distribution strategies, audience growth and engagement, data and analytics, and sales.
• Inspires Executive Producers and showrunners to achieve the most compelling cross-platform results
• Ensures that all content meets company policies, industry codes, FCC rules, and brand values while continually developing new product to reflect the current competitive environment
• Stays abreast of audience trends across the streaming landscape. Represents ABC News at industry conferences, on panels and in the media.
• Sets short and long-term objectives to achieve budgetary goals.
• Manages budget and allocates ABC News resources to achieve operational goals.
• Brings new and content innovative approaches across the range of new platforms
• Champions an innovative and highly collaborative diverse culture that promotes idea generation, open communication, respect for others, and excellence
• Partners with HR, Finance and Operations as well as other relevant departments
Qualifications:
• Proven experience (10+ years) in longform content creation, including documentary, series, or feature production, preferably in a journalistic or news-oriented environment.
• Deep understanding of storytelling, visual narrative techniques, and the ethical standards of journalism.
• Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing high-performing creative teams and large-scale projects.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working across multiple departments and with external partners.
• Knowledge of evolving media landscapes, including streaming, digital platforms, and traditional broadcast.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $309,800 to $415,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
