Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Newscast Correspondent will showcase ABC News' up to minute reporting by writing and delivering a compelling, crisp, and sound-rich show at the top and bottom of every hour. This versatile role encompasses broadcasting Special Reports, reporting breaking news or special events live coverage, Two-Ways with affiliates, and other Special Programming.
Responsibilities:
• Write and deliver an hourly 5-minute newscasts and one-minute brief every hour.
• Participate in special coverage as necessary
• Write and record reporter pieces for use by affiliates and in later newscasts
• Actively participate in editorial meetings and in the newsroom, pitching stories and coverage ideas
• Show flexibility in working schedules, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excel as a team player, ready to support and lead as necessary.
• Uphold the highest level of ethics and journalistic standards in all aspects of your work.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be resourceful and adaptable, equally proficient in field and studio environments, and capable of reporting with ease. An ability to swiftly and concisely make complex topics accessible to all audiences is essential, as is enthusiasm for covering a wide range of stories, from breaking news and features to long-form pieces.
• Minimum of 5 years of on-air broadcast experience, ideally in a major market or at a network level.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced newsroom
• Extensive experience with live reporting, both on location and remotely.
• Exceptional storytelling skills across formats and platforms.
• Outstanding news judgment.
• High emotional intelligence coupled with confidence to ensure a productive and positive work environment.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

The pay for this role in New York, NY is $104,802 which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
