What You Will Do
• Responding quickly and effectively to breaking news events and supporting live broadcast coverage
• Communicating directly with affiliate stations to ensure timely, accurate information sharing
• Editing and adapting ABC News broadcasts for podcast platforms
• Pitching original story ideas and contributing meaningfully to editorial discussions
• Supporting radio talent and producers in daily newsroom production
• Recording, editing, and mixing audio for news, features, and special projects
• Supporting podcast production as needed, including transcribing tape and fact-checking scripts
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of one year working in a radio/audio role, such as an internship, college radio station, or network-level experience
• Background in journalism and a keen interest in current events, history, and pop culture
• Proficiency in audio editing and sound mixing
• Sharp attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a fast-paced broadcast or digital newsroom
• Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools)
• Basic knowledge of video editing tools
Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
This position reports directly to the Deputy Managing Editor of ABC News Radio.
The hiring range for this position in New York is $61,500 to $82,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
