Tax Director

A24 is seeking a Tax Director to build out our tax function, set relevant procedures and practices, and oversee all tax matters. In your role, you will ensure that A24 is run in a tax-efficient manner by liaising with external tax consultants and preparers to ensure local, state, federal and international tax issues are handled accurately and efficiently and by working with A24's internal team to anticipate any areas of new tax exposure. You will monitor current and impending changes to tax regulation and make the appropriate updates to policies and strategies where needed. Additionally, you will innovate and drive efficiencies through ongoing evaluation and evolution of our systems and business processes.

Initial Responsibilities:
• Take a proactive, consultative approach to identifying the tax needs of the organization as a whole and put together a plan to ensure we are in compliance with all applicable laws and operating in a tax-efficient manner.
• Independently oversee partnership and corporate taxation from a planning, compliance, and reporting perspective.
• Primarily own the relationships with our external tax partners and vendors.
• Manage and review US Federal, State and Local and International income tax returns and other business tax related filings (prepared by a third party).
• Ensure sales tax compliance on both physical and digital goods.
• Maintain the tax calendar to ensure timely payments and filings.
• Independently own tax-related account reconciliations and analysis, including deferred tax reconciliations and proofs, as part of monthly and quarterly close.
• Prepare the tax footnote and other related tax disclosures for Company's financial statements.
• Responsible for ensuring that internal controls over financial reporting for the tax accounting function are appropriate, properly monitored, and maintained.
• Proactively partner with various business functions to anticipate, review, and manage tax considerations, including:
• Investment in Film accounting and IRC Section 181
• International sales and distribution, including expansion into new foreign markets
• Film & TV Production, including state, local and foreign tax incentives
• Marketing, PR and Brand Strategy to identify potential tax exposure from new initiatives
• Regularly identify, research, and evaluate opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures and tax efficiency.
• Proactively monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments.

Requirements and Qualifications
• 12+ years of tax reporting and compliance experience with large public accounting firm and/or large public company tax department
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
• CPA is required
• Entrepreneurial and comfortable building new practices from scratch
• Ability to navigate a growing organization and complex business models; can work effectively with all levels of an organization, from coordinators to executives, and manage relationships with external tax advisers and third parties
• Ability to perform independent research and documenting tax positions
• Film/TV industry experience is a plus
• Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, time management, and strong organizational skills
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Humble, diligent and resourceful

Our target salary range for this position is between $175,000 and $215,000. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, including both cash and equity components, competitive healthcare, as well as other employee benefits.
