Job Description

Summary:

The General Manager, Digital Platforms is responsible for setting and leading the organization's digital monetization strategy utilizing the AETN content, product and brands across all owned non-linear and social platforms, in alignment with organizational goals and objectives. They will manage the daily and long-term operational goals of the company and on a day-to-day basis will manage staff, work schedules and delegate tasks to their leadership team and their respective areas. This role will establish yearly objectives, review team strategies and tactics, areas of opportunity and goals related to monetization and budgeting. On an ongoing basis, they will need to determine the growth strategy and respond effectively to changes in the media environment. This role works closely with counterparts in Ad Sales, Global Content Sales, IT/Product Management, Marketing, Research, L&BA and HR to ensure the best output and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting into a member of the Executive Team, the GM, Digital Platforms' primary responsibility is to build and grow the digital business of A+E Networks to meaningfully contribute to company EBIT over the next three years.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

DIGITAL BUSINESS STRATEGY, P&L MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
• Create and implement strategies for business growth across web, social and YT platforms.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, revenue teams and Product to acquire and retain clients/audience.
• Develop new solutions to meet client/audience needs and drive revenue/profitability, ensure that the team delivers quality offerings to clients.
• Develop and articulate key performance goals and objectives across the teams.
• Set and manage the budget and monitor the financial health of the digital business; adjusting when needed.

STAFF, TEAM, AND CULTURE
• Responsible for the management and performance of staff; set competencies for the hiring of new staff. Grows and develops the in-house digital team.
• Think at an enterprise-level when making decisions and recommendations, considering the benefits/impacts to the entire organization (vs. just their division).

BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS
• Improve internal processes for better productivity and optimize results (for profitability) across web, social and YT platforms. Ensures optimal processes across all areas (schedules, calendars, coordination of production, etc.).
• Interpret performance and financial reports.
• Work across all areas of the company (and encourages their team to as well) and with all functions to deliver the best possible digital product (e.g., IT/Product, Ad Sales, Research, Programming, Studios, Marketing, Global Content Sales, HR, PR/Comms, etc.) in the optimal way.
• Design frameworks for optimization and efficiency; uses data and insights to make data-driven decisions; in an ongoing fashion, analyzes strategy efficacy and makes improvements.

LEADERSHIP
• Represent the company in meetings with clients, partners, agencies and at events.
• Able to adapt with and complete a wide variety of tasks and initiatives that can evolve and change over time as the industry/ecosystem shifts.
• Stay up to date with the latest technology and best practices.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
• Exceptional knowledge of digital product strategies, platforms and business models; experience running and leading all aspects of a digital business, with 10+ years progressive digital/technology product, and/or management experience
• Proven track record of setting and executing a successful product strategy and roadmap, ideally in a consumer marketplace and in ad-supported models, collaborating with IT/Digital Technology counterparts.
• Keen thinking and planning abilities with an in-depth understanding of budget management/financial monitoring.
• Experience building high performing teams by promoting values and achieving consensus, as well as coaching and mentoring; leadership and management skills, including the ability to inspire and manage a team of 25+ in multiple markets/workforce types (e.g., hybrid, remote, etc.), in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• In-depth and hands-on knowledge and experience reading reporting tools (e.g., Adobe, Google Analytics/Adwords, WebTrends, SalesForce etc.), and responding to the insights within.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively and diplomatically with all organizational levels, effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
• High level of discretion, integrity, judgment, responsiveness, personal initiative and ability to be objective.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 5 years of experience owning and growing a sizeable P&L
• At least 10 years of experience building high performing teams by promoting values and achieving consensus, as well as coaching and mentoring; leadership and management skills, including the ability to inspire and manage a team of 25+ in multiple markets/workforce types (e.g., hybrid, remote, etc.), in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• At least 10 years of progressive digital/technology product experience
• At least 5 years of a track record of delivering results to a pre-determined plan.

Compensation

Annual Pay Range: $403,779 - $484,535

Annual Incentive Target: 40.00%

The annual/hourly pay range displayed serves as a good faith estimate of the

minimum and maximum base pay range for this role. Compensation for the role will

be based on a number of different factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills,
