Video Editor Summary

This individual's role will involve collaborating with our video department for our 1440 Topics. This includes editing explainer videos covering relevant topics that align with 1440's content strategy and current digital landscape. Responsibilities encompass video creation with b-roll, custom animation, talking heads, and more.

The Video Editor is someone who is eager to understand and reach our audience.

This role will be entirely remote and will report to our Video Production Manager. Pay for this role is $30 per hour at approximately 40 hours per week. Paid within 10 business days upon receipt of invoice. After 6 months the scope of work will be re-evaluated to the needs of the company and 1440 Topics.

Responsibilities:

Video Project Ownership:

  • Manage the end-to-end production of video projects, including editorial and technical pre- and post-production.

  • Coordinate all aspects of video production, from concept development and storyboarding to gathering and building assets, editing, and final delivery.

  • Ensure timely execution of video projects while adhering to budgets, deadlines, and quality standards.

Content Pitching & Ideation:

  • Generate creative video concepts and pitch new formats that align with the company’s video strategy.

  • Propose innovative and diverse video formats (e.g., explainers, interviews, how-tos, behind-the-scenes, short-form, long-form, etc.) to engage the audience and drive performance metrics.

  • Stay up to date on video trends, social platform changes, and industry best practices to inform new content ideas.

Video Optimization for Performance:

  • Work with the Social Media Manager to optimize video production for organic video performance, ensuring videos are designed for maximum engagement across platforms.

  • Refine video content to meet specific digital platform goals (e.g., increased views, shares, and engagement).

  • Adjust and iterate on video formats based on performance data, audience feedback, and emerging trends to continuously improve content effectiveness.

Deliverables:

  1. Fully Produced Video Projects:

    • Manage, create, and deliver 16-20 fully produced video projects from start to finish a month, adhering to deadlines and quality standards.

  2. Video Pitches and Creative Concepts:

    • Deliver monthly creative pitches and video concepts aligned with the company’s social and video strategy.

  3. Content Optimization Plan:

    • Develop and deliver a plan for optimizing video content based on performance data, including insights on how to refine formats and approaches to meet organic performance goals.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in editing and video production, as well as deep knowledge in audio editing and tools such as Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and more.

  • Experience managing video projects from concept to delivery.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, the news cycle, and how to optimize video content for each.

  • Strong understanding of and experience maintaining journalistic standards, including fluency in reporting best practices, fact-checking, and libel.

  • Creative thinking and a track record of pitching innovative video content ideas.

  • Data-driven approach to refining video production and optimizing performance based on analytics.
